Your Lake
Have not yet visited this Primitive Management Area lake. The information displayed on this page are notes used for planning a future trip to this area. Use the information on this page at your own risk.
Diminutive Your Lake is at the top of a drainage that flows to the east into My Lake. The entire drainage is toward the east through Sprig Lake and then eventually into Gabimichigami Lake.
In 1875, a large fire complex called the Alice Lake/Ogishkemuncie Lake/Tuscarora Lake/Cherokee Lake Complex burned the area around all those major lakes. It probably started near Lake Insula or the Hog Lake area.
There was another large fire in this area around 1863-1864. This fire is known as the North Kawishiwi River/Alice Lake/Cypress Lake/Saganaga Lake Complex. Like the fire that burned this area in 1875, it began south of the current BWCAW's southern boundary near the town of Isabella, Minnesota.
Approach to Your Lake
At the very western end of My Lake, head up the creek you find there towards Your Lake.
Bushwhack to Your Lake
The bushwhack from My Lake to Your Lake is about 35 rods. Just follow the creek that connects the two lakes. This creek is not navigable. The bushwhack is mostly through peat bog and some open forest. You will eventually come to the marshy southeast arm of Your Lake where you should be able to float your canoe again.
Exploring Your Lake
Your Lake is a marshy, shallow lake with forest along the west side of the lake and more peat bog along the east edge of the lake. Your Lake is at the top of the watershed and no other creeks or routes radiate from it.
