WONDER LAKE CAMPSITES: Campsite 1: (#841) - Campsite on south end of the lake Campsite 2: (#840) - Campsite on north end of the lake
Small remote lake on a dead end route requiring a 200 rod portage to reach.
There are two campsites on this lake. The north campsite is in rough shape, but the southern site is rather nice.
Wonder Lake reportedly has decent northern pike fishing.
Plouff Creek flows through Wonder Lake. It enters near the middle of west shoreline and exits Wonder Lake from its southern tip. The section of Plouff Creek leading to Sunhigh Lake is navigable. There are two unmarked portages along the creek. You may be able to skip these two portages if the water is really high. One portage is about 15 rods. The other is just a liftover a sandbar when you reach Sunhigh Lake. During really low water levels on this creek, the going will be more difficult, but still relatively passable. The campsite on Sunhigh Lake is also in poor condition and is similar to the northern campsite on Wonder Lake.
This area was heavily impacted by the 1999 July 4th windstorm, but is recovering.

The next campsite on Wonder Lake is in the south end of it. Continue traveling along the eastern shore of the lake, eventually passing through the lakes narrows and by a couple of small islands. The south campsite is just around the bend to the left (east) after the narrows. This is better of the two campsites on the lake. Explore the south campsite on Wonder Lake.
