Portaging Direction: From Lower George Lake to Rib Lake
There is a large raised table rock at the start of this portage. There are very good canoe landing spots right next to it. The small island out in front of this spot, makes it easy to find if paddling through Lower George Lake.
A nearly flat smooth trail between Lower George Lake and Rib Lake.
Arrival at Rib Lake looking north. The creek from Lower George Lake flows in from the right. There is one campsite on this lake, on the east shore just around the bend.

Portaging Direction: From Rib Lake to Lower George Lake
This looks more like a boat ramp you would find in a state park, than a portage landing in the BWCA. It actually was a boat ramp at one time.
The short portage ends at this nice view of Lower George Lake. Put your canoe into the lake to the left side (if you are facing lake) of this table rock.
After you leave the portage, you paddle to the right around that point on the right side of your view (out past the small island). Portage landing on this end is very manageable.
