BECOOSIN LAKE CAMPSITES: Campsite 1 (#2246): The western campsite on this lake Campsite 2 (#2249): The eastern campsite on this lake
Lakes name could be derived from the Ojibwe language, but research hasn't found a firm conclusion.
Becoosin Lake is only easily accessible from the Benezie-Becoosin hiking trail. That trail is a short loop trail along the Kekekabic Trail. The trail mainly provides access to four campsites, two on Becoosin Lake and two on Benezie Lake, which is located a short hiking distance further east. Both campsites on Becoosin Lake are superior to either campsite on Benezie Lake if you are planning to stop for the night. A pretty island sits near the middle of the lake. There is a lot of blowdown evident along the trail as you hike past Becoosin Lake.
The lake only contains yellow perch. If you want to fish for a larger gamefish, Benezie Lake has northern pike.
Watter enters the lake through several marshlands that surround it. Becoosin Lake flows out a small creek to the north into Parent Lake.
