NORTH FOWL LAKE CAMPSITES:
Campsite 1 (#744): Located near the north end of the lake. The only campsite on North Fowl Lake. You don't need a BWCA permit to camp here
North Fowl Lake is a large, shallow border lake straddling the U.S./Canada Border. The lake lies just outside of the BWCA. Paddlers that have the BWCA Entry Point 70 permit must pass through this lake to reach the portage to Moose Lake. Motors are allowed on North Fowl Lake. Many cabins exist on the lakes south end, mostly on the U.S. side of the lake. There are also a few cabins on the Canadian side. Road access to the lake is from Canada.
The lake has extensive fields of wild rice growing near the mouth of the Royal River. Aquatic vegetation grows extensively throughout much of the lake. North Fowl Lake is an excellent place to see waterfowl, especially during the time of the fall migration.
