The Portage between Ella Hall Lake and Four Mile Portage

Portaging Direction: From Ella Hall Lake to Four Mile Portage

The portage is located at the very west tip of Ella Hall Lake. This landing is as smooth as a babies bottom.

You can use portage wheels on the Four Mile Portage (also known as the Long Portage), so you will often find them cached here near the Ella Hall Lake portage landing.

The portage begins going slightly uphill. The portage levels out over the middle and descends mildly until it reaches the Four Mile Portage. The portage does not extend to Muskeg Lake.

The end of the portage gives you a view of Muskeg Lake, but there is no longer a path down to the lake. It is easier to bushwhack down to the lake, after heading down the Four Mile Portage a little ways to the north (toward Basswood Lake). In that area the shore of Muskeg Lake is more accessible.

Beginning of the portage to Ella Hall Lake from where it intersects with the Four Mile Portage.

The portage involves a slight elevation gain, it then levels out in the middle and then loses the elevation as it reaches Ella Hall Lake. The portage is rather open, since a lot of the trees around this area were destroyed by a windstorm. The portage is well used and easy to follow. You can use portage wheels on this portage. The landing at Ella Hall Lake is solid.
