Portaging Direction: From the Vern River to East Pipe Lake
The landing is rocky and may for some require standing in the water to unload. The portage is to the right of the creek as you approach.
Portage is flat with a few rocks along the trail. The East Pipe Lake end of the portage is often flooded thanks to the local beavers.
There is a good landing on this end of the portage, as the beavers have raised the lake level enough to make it easy to get your canoe docked on shore. The portage path is often wet though because of the higher water levels.

Portaging Direction: From East Pipe Lake to the Vern River
Good landing on this side of the portage. The beaver dam responsible for the higher water table is visible to the far right.
The start of the portage is over a short boardwalk. The boardwalk is in place because this end of the portage becomes flooded due to the beaver dam. The rest of the portage is short and level.
You will find this landing more difficult than that experienced on the East Pipe Lake end of this portage. As you can see it is clogged with large boulders..
