Portaging Direction: From the Crocodile River to Parsnip Lake
The landing is a little mushy, but otherwise a good landing spot.
The portage heads up hill soon after leaving the canoe landing on the Crocodile River. It gains about 100 feet of elevation during the first half of the portage and then levels out. It's mostly flat the rest of the way to Parsnip Lake. This portage doesn't see a lot of visitors, so it is somewhat overgrown.
The landing at Parsnip Lake is a jumble of rocks. You have to rock hop with your gear out to that deeper edge in the grass just left of the center of your view. The water isn't deep enough to float a canoe until you are standing there.

Portaging Direction: From Parsnip Lake to the Crocodile River
From where you are standing in this image, you need to hop the rocks over to the edge of the forest on the right side of the photo. The water is very shallow and full of sharp rocks. The rocks were quite slippery in late summer too.
The first half of the portage going in this direction is mostly flat. The portage is overgrown because it doesn't get used too much. The last half of the portage is downhill until you get to the Crocodile River landing.
The landing on the river is soggy, but presents no major obstacles.
