ABINODJI LAKE CAMPSITE: Campsite 1 (#1208): Only campsite on the lake. Located on the north shoreline
Abinodji Lake is along a lightly traveled route between Boot Lake and Cattyman Lake. This lake has a single campsite, but it is a really good one. This is the only lake in the immediate area with a campsite, so you will have the place to yourself if you can get to it before another group does. The site is well elevated and provides panoramic views of much of the lake. The lake has several cliffs and rock formations that further enhance the scenery.
The portage landing leading to Haven Lake is a little elevated and can be a minor struggle for folks who have heavy gear to lift out of the canoe. The actual portage from Abinodji Lake to Haven Lake is a tough one with quite a bit of elevation to be gained and lost. The portage rises about 60 feet in the first 25 rods from Abinodji Lake to the plateau of a small hill. The last half of the portage loses around 110 feet coming down to Haven Lake. This makes it feel like more than its 86 rods would warrant.
A good supply of northern pike can be caught in this lake.

PADDLING FROM THE SWING LAKE PORTAGE TO THE LAKES ONLY CAMPSITE
Starting from the Swing Lake portage landing, paddle toward the setting sun to the only campsite on Abinodji Lake. You visit with a family of loons along the way. The loons have two young with them, so they aren't excited about coming in closer to have their pictures taken.
A family of four loons cruise Abinodji Lake offshore from the lodge of the lakes resident beaver.
