The canoe landing at the campsite found behind the island on Ahsub Lake (October 3, 2021).
View to the southwest. The island out in front of the island is visible to the left (October 3, 2021).
View from the canoe landing up toward the fire pit (July 25, 2015).
The kitchen (October 3, 2021).
Looking west from the campsite. This is before the July 2016 blowdown (July 25, 2015).
View to the south (October 3, 2021). Notice all the trees knocked down on the island.
Campsite full tour. The campsite was impacted by the July 2016 windstorm. The storm blew down many trees around the campsite, so now the site is rather exposed to the sun. The latrine is a little hard to find and is back in the woods along a rocky trail. Nice views of the lake in several directions (October 3, 2021).
This latrine is a bit hard to find. The trail to it is on the right side of the camp as you face the forest. Trail is uneven, twisty and rocky (October 3, 2021).
This campsite is somewhat elevated and provides lovely views of Ahsub Lake. The campsite is somewhat picked over since it gets a lot of use. Ahsub Lake is a popular place to camp because the lake is stocked by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources with brook trout (October 3, 2021).
Generally the same image as the one shown above. View toward the east. Disappointment Mountain takes up the right half of your view in the distance. Notice how much smoother the treeline is along the top of the mountain in this view. That is because this photo was taken before the July 2016 blowdown (July 25, 2015).
View is from the back of the campsite. Shows the entire island that is just offshore from the campsite.
