Portaging Direction: From South Temperance Lake to the Temperance River
The start of the long 240 rod portage that runs generally downhill from South Temperance Lake to the Temperance River. This portage bypasses long stretches of rapids along the river. The landing and the portage are all in good shape. Besides being long, it is a very straightforward carry.
This is a fairly long portage at 240 rods. However, it is an easy portage. From South Temperance Lake, it is mostly a gradual downhill walk to the landing on the Temperance River.
The last of a nearly mile long stretch of rapids ends just to your left as the Temperance River widens at this point. The landing on the Temperance River end of this portage is A+.

Portaging Direction: From Temperance River to South Temperance Lake
A nice portage landing with erosion barriers built right down to the waterline. Lots of space to stow your gear if you're double portaging. Straightfoward canoe landing.
The only thing hard about this portage (besides the fact that it is 240 rods long) is that it is slightly uphill all the way. The portage itself is easy to walk and quite wide.
South Temperance Lake is an area of low relief. Even the trees are of a rather stocky height. The landing on this end is good enough to not need any further description.
