Portaging Direction: From Skoop Lake to Cherokee Creek
Landing for the portage to Cherokee Creek.
This portage crosses over the Laurentian Divide (which is where water either flows north or south, similar to how the Continental Divide splits east and west water movement.
A smooth landing to start your paddle down Cherokee Creek. Note, if you head to your left from here, you will be going to Cede Lake, which is about 40 rods up the creek. Might be interesting lake to explore, but will require a bit of bushwhacking to reach it. If you paddle to your right from here (like most folks), you will be headed downstream toward Cherokee Lake.

Portaging Direction: From Cherokee Creek to Skoop Lake
A sandy canoe landing. Head up the hill to the left to make your way to Skoop Lake.
The portage includes a bit of climbing because you are crossing the Laurentian Divide.
The north end of Skoop Lake looking south down the eastern shoreline. The canoe landing on Skoop Lake is not the sandy beach you found on the Cherokee Creek end of this portage. A little rougher, with a lot of rocks.
