Portaging Direction: From Missing Link Lake to Snipe Lake
This portage is found in the northeast bay of Missing Link Lake. The portage landing is excellent with a granular bottom and minimal water depth. Note: McKenzie maps also show a 45 rod portage starting here that leads to Mavis Lake. The map is incorrect. The actual portage to Mavis Lake is found in the middle of the northeast shoreline, in the northeast bay of Missing Link Lake.
A short ways down the portage you come to "The Crevice". There is currently a handy log to step down onto, but this isn't guaranteed to be here permanently. It is nearly a five foot drop. After climbing down, you walk a few feet and go up a similar rock face, only slightly shorter, on the other side.
This portage is about 160 rods and primarily downhill going toward Snipe Lake. This portage could be rated a "difficult Average", as it is a tad rougher than most. This is not a heavily traveled route.
Snipe Lake's northwest bay at the end of the portage. The portage landing is in the "just adequate" category, as far as canoe landings go.

Portaging Direction: From Snipe Lake to Missing Link Lake
The start of the portage to Missing Link Lake. From here, this portage is mostly uphill. The landing is not particularly memorable for being good or bad.
Coming from Snipe Lake, you get a good look at the higher side of "The Crevice", which is on the Missing Link Lake side of the portage. The log makes getting up that rock wall much easier.
The moderately uphill 160 rod portage from Snipe Lake to Missing Link Lake. Getting through the crevice area is a little easier going this way since the climb down on this side is a little lower.
Missing Link Lake provides a nice view toward the west and also a very convenient canoe landing, complete with a sand bottom and water of trivial depth.
