BWCA Portage: Lake Two to Lake One

Portaging from Lake Two

View of the upper part of the rapids between Lake Two and Lake One. From where you are standing, the first of two portages to Lake One is just over your left shoulder.

The entire portage from Lake Two to Lake One actually encompasses two short portages and a quick paddle across a pond that separates them. Expect to encounter a lot of people on these portages. The portages are well worn and easy to work. Some nice view of the rapids can be had from several spots along the portage route.

Lake One after you complete the portage from Lake Two. The odd light and strange appearance of the sun is a result of smoke particles scattering light in the atmosphere. The smoke is from huge forest fires that were burning out in the western United States at this time.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: LAKE ONE

Portage from Lake One into: Confusion Lake or the Kawishiwi River. Leave the BWCA at Entry Point 30. You can also paddle into Pagami Creek in the Weasel Lake Primitive Management Area (PMA). Bushwhack to Carefree Lake also in the Weasel Lake PMA.
