The Portage between Horseshoe Lake and Gaskin Lake

Portaging Direction: From Horseshoe Lake to Gaskin Lake

Gaskin Lake to Horseshoe Lake Portage 1
A less than great landing on the Horseshoe Lake side of this portage. Lots of boulders and the water gets deep somewhat quickly.

The portage is slightly more difficult going in this direction as it goes over a low ridge, gaining 66 feet of elevation before topping out at 1,910 feet above sea level. . The portage is pretty with some old growth pine and cedar along the route. Landing on the Horseshoe Lake side of this portage is rather difficult because of large rocks and fairly deep water right offshore. The Gaskin Lake end of the portage has a nice landing.

You should have no trouble at this landing.

Portaging Direction: From Gaskin Lake to Horseshoe Lake

Gaskin Lake to Horseshoe Lake Portage 3
Reasonably good portage landing on the Gaskin Lake side of this portage.

The going it as tad easier in this direction. Elevation gain totals 41 feet. No sharp ups and downs, just a steady climb to near the middle of the portage and then downhill to Gaskin Lake. Love groves of cedar and mature pine along this portage.

Gaskin Lake to Horseshoe Lake Portage 4
A rather unpleasant landing greets you at Horseshoe Lake.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: HORSESHOE LAKE
