Portaging Direction: From BWCA Entry Point 75 to the Little Isabella River
Start of a short downhill portage to the Little Isabella River. This portage trail is easy to walk.
Portage is downhill to the river. To your left for much of the portage, an overlook provides a view of a wetland. The Little Isabella River skirts the eastern edge of this wetland. From the parking lot the elevation loss is about 35 feet.
Looking downstream from the portage landing. Speaking of the portage landing, a line of large boulders means you will have to balance the canoe in the water and step out onto the rocks. Not difficult, but no place to just paddle the canoe right up onto the shoreline.
Portaging Direction: From Little Isabella River to BWCA Entry Point 75
You may have to stand in the water when exiting the canoe (in using a solo canoe) at this landing, as the line of boulders right along the water line prevents paddlers from beaching their boats here. It may vary somewhat depending on water level of the river.
A short steadily uphill walk of 33 rods from the edge of the river to the entry point parking lot. The portage trail is in great shape.
View of the entry point parking lot as you clear the forest at the end of the portage.
