The Portage between Daniels Lake and Rove Lake
Portaging Direction: From Daniels Lake to Rove Lake
The landing on Daniels Lake.
The Long Portage is a well known portage that makes up a small part of the Border Route. From the Daniels Lake landing, the first part of the portage is known as the Daniels Lake Cutoff. Follow it until you come to an intersection with the Border Route Trail. Turn right here to head towards Rove Lake on the Long Portage. It is called the Long Portage because its entire length is 660 rods running between Rose Lake and Rove Lake. You are only doing the eastern half of the portage between the Daniels Lake Cutoff and Rove Lake. The Border Route Trail uses the same trail as the portage in this area. Heading to the left at the intersection would eventually get you to Rose Lake.
Mediocre landing on Rove Lake.

This portage is shared by the Border Route Trail. From Rove Lake, make sure you head west down the trail. If you head east from the portage landing you will just be following the Border Route Trail. After going west for about 250+ rods, you will come to a signed intersection. Turn left here to go the rest of the way to Daniels Lake. This is known as the Daniels Lake Cutoff. It is also the very northern end of the Daniels Lake Trail. It's about 80 rods from the intersection to Daniels Lake. If you keep going straight (west) you will eventually arrive at Rose Lake. The portage, which is known as the Long Portage, follows the Border Route Trail for the entire distance between Rove Lake and Rose Lake.
Somewhat stoney landing on Daniels Lake end of the portage.
