Portaging Direction: From Cross Bay Lake to Ham Lake
Start of the portage to Ham Lake. Moderately good canoe landing on a sloping rock ledge.
This is an easy portage of 24 rods. You will leave the BWCA along this portage as you near the Ham Lake end.
A broad sandy landing big enough for a flotilla of canoes. There are two campsites across the lake, which are visible just to either side of the center of view.

Portaging Direction: From Ham Lake to Cross Bay Lake
Better than most canoe landings your likely to see today along this route.
You will enter the BWCA along this easy 24 rod portage enroute to Cross Bay Lake.
Cross Bay Lake (or is it the Cross River here). Hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. In any event, from here you want to hang a right once you start paddling. To the left just out of view is the head of the rapids that race down to Ham Lake.
