Portaging Direction: From the Chub River to Warclub Lake
The portage is on the right side of the river, just before the light rapids begin. Nice solid bottom. Pretty area too. Note that just up the portage trail, maybe three or four rods, is where the Kekekabic Trail intersects with the portage trail. The Kekekabic Trail crosses the creek on a bridge of large, placed boulders.
This trail is rocky and mucky. The landing on the Warclub Lake end is no picnic either. Almost all portages in this part of the BWCA are on the more difficult end of the scale.
Seems to be two options here for getting your canoe back in the water. You can put it in on the right side there, in that open area of water between the two big rocks. That may be best if you got a partner with you. The other option is the stand on the beaver dam (you can see just a little bit of it in the lower left of your view) and get in your canoe there. Using a solo canoe, that works pretty well.

Portaging Direction: From Warclub Lake to the Chub River
You can get out of your canoe on this beaver dam where it connects to this big ol' rock. You can see water is pretty shallow and bottom is good and solid. Another place to exit a boat is over to the right from this vantage point (south side of river/lake) between two large rock slabs (just out of view to your right -- see portage in opposite direction above for a better view of that). In any event, coming from Warclub Lake, the portage is on the left side (incorrectly shown on some map revisions).
A short 15 rodder, but not real easy. Fairly muddy and some rock and root obstructions. Just before you reach the end of the portage at the Chub River, you will intersect the Kekekabic Trail. You have to be looking for it or you will walk right by it. The "Kek" is fairly rugged in this area of the BWCA. The Kekekabic Trail crosses the Chub River right there, on a boulder causeway that fords the river.
The Chub River. The landing on this end is much better. Looking downstream.
