Portaging Direction: From Burnt Lake to Flame Lake
A smooth sand bottomed landing greets you on the Burnt Lake side of this portage. The location of this portage can be a little hard to see from out on the lake. Look for the big boulder.
The portage climbs slightly at the beginning and then is pretty level nearly all the way to Flame Lake. The trail finally takes dips down to the edge of the lake at the end. Since Flame Lake is a dead end lake, this portage gets less use than most. Expect it to be a little brushy during the summer.
A pretty view of Flame Lake from the end of the portage. The landing here is a rock ledge. Those in solo canoes will probably have to get their feet wet here.

Portaging Direction: From Flame Lake to Burnt Lake
A look at the beginning of the portage to Burnt Lake. The water is pretty clear, so it is deeper than it appears.
Mostly a flat portage traverse and then a little downhill as you approach Burnt Lake. A couple of large boulders mark the Burnt Lake end of the portage.
Canoe landing is a sandy beach on this end. Many boulders just under the surface of the lake here, so be on the look out.
