The quality of this campsite depends on the water level. This campsite is prone to flooding. Remember that Peterson Lake is just a wide spot along the Temperance River and rivers rise and fall quickly relative to lakes. When water levels are high, this campsite can get flooded up to the area around the fire grate. If you camp here, you will find at least three tent pads. The canoe landing is a gravel beach. However, approaching this campsite can be a bit tricky, especially in low water, since there is a minefield of boulders just offshore. The kitchen is well placed. Latrine is easily reached along a nice trail.
Nice beach for landing and launching. Note that this beach disappears if the water is high.
Basic setup. Nothing fancy, but adequate for most.
Kitchen seems well situated offering good views, but some protection from the sun and wind.
This tent pad is near the kitchen. Good for midnight snackers.
Rougher tent pad you'll find a few steps down the latrine trail.
As you face the lake from the kitchen, this tent pad is a hundred feet or so down a trail that parallels the lakeshore.
The Green Obelisk of Peterson Lake.
Looking towards the right from the campsite. Notice how shallow the water is just offshore. Lots of rocks to navigate through. This is during a period of low water levels.
