Nice landing. Good seating around the fire grate. There are two large boulders that provide additional seating that can't be moved or burned. From the kitchen you can see the lake fairly well. There are four tent pads at this campsite, but three of them are tilted from the horizontal. Somewhat limited shoreline access. Popular campsite as it is directly across Alton Lake from the Sawbill Lake portage. BWCA Campsite 868 is only about 400 feet away to the northeast, so you'll hear your neighbors if any are camped there.

Some handy boulders for sitting or placing gear near the fire grate. Easy access to the lake.

Sloped tent pad.

Alton Lake Campsite 3
This tent pad was also a little uneven.

Alton Lake Campsite 5
Another tent pad with a pretty obvious slope to it.

Alton Lake Campsite 6
This tent pad located near the water seemed to be the best one at this campsite.
