This is a really large campsite suitiable for maximum BWCA group sizes. The canoe landing is mostly good, a few boulders to hinder your loading/unloading efforts. The fire grate is setup in a big open area with plenty of open space around it. The lake is somewhat obscured from the seating area by the many cedar trees growing here. There are at least five large tent pads at this campsite and most of them are quite acceptable. Mediocre shoreline access.
Canoe landing is a perch slightly above the water on a line of large boulders. The clear water is shallow here.
This is a second canoe landing at this campsite.
The kitchen is large and offers a lot of space to spread out.
View towards the lake from the seating area. Limited lake views.
Large and flat tent pad near one of the campsites two canoe landings.
Another large tent pad.
Another tent pad.
No shortage of good spots to setup your tents.
How about another tent pad.
This is a popular campsite, so #11 is often busy. The #11 indicates that this is the 11th campsite according to the U.S. Forest Service's numbering system on Alton Lake. In total there are 16 campsites on this lake.
View to the south/southeast from the campsite. BWCA Campsite 866 is on that point near the center of the photo. That point is about 400 feet away. Pretty close.
