A wide slab of rock provides the 'dock' at this campsite. Caught northern pike casting from shore here.
This is the only reasonably good tent pad at this campsite. It is located toward the back of the camp at the start of the latrine trail.
If you have more than one tent, this is probably the second best option at this campsite.
This is a campsite of last resort. The campsite does have a few small trees around it, but is otherwise completely surrounded by burnt forest. The site is rather small in general. The fire pit is really close to the water. Good views of the lake. Only one good tent pad, but a couple other spots could be used in a pinch to setup extra tents. There is a campsite directly across the lake to the east that is visible. Also BWCA Campsite 1494 is just to the south on the small point. You will be able to hear people in that site as it is only a few hundred feet away.
Tent pad for the truly desperate.
Modern amenities included.
Handy rock table for piling up your stuff.
One advantage of a campsite without many trees, like this one, is great views of the sky. Northern lights visible easily visible at twilight. May 19, 2023.
The star reflections can even be seen in the still water.
The elongated star trail near the top center of this image is the International Space Station passing overhead. This view is to the northeast of the campsite. May 19, 2023.
This snowshoe hare wasn't afraid of people. We named it 'Rita', but could be a 'Roger'.
This chipmunk is also a camp resident.
View to the southeast. The fire pit at this campsite is very close to the water. This image is from early spring, so water levels are higher than usual.
