Webfoot Lake
Have not yet visited this Primitive Management Area lake. The information displayed on this page are notes used for planning a future trip to this area. Use the information on this page at your own risk.
If you have webfeet, they will be handy for reaching Webfoot Lake. This lake is very open with no trees along its shore; a marsh/peat bog shoreline entirely surrounds this little lake. Waterfowl like this sort of habitat as the lack of trees reduces cover for predators. Probably good moose habitat too.
The fire history of this area includes the 1894 Chad Lake/Cummings Lake/Lac La Croix/Crooked Lake complex. This was one of two large fires that affected the western part of what is now known as the BWCA during that year.
Another fire affected this area way back in 1822. This burn is known as the Hook Lake/Hegman Lake/Crooked Lake complex.
Approach to Webfoot Lake
Webfoot Lake is approached by paddling through Tick Lake.
Bushwhack to Webfoot Lake
From the east end of Tick Lake, Webfoot Lake should be visible about 1/8th of a mile to your east. Just head across the peat bog. During high water, a small creek that cuts through this peat bog may be somewhat navigable, but would not count on it.
Exploring Webfoot Lake
There is no information on either Tick Lake or Webfoot Lake. Would say that the best reasons to explore these two little lakes is for the chance to see some wildlife and a truly untrammeled part of the BWCA.
