Portaging Direction: From the South Brule River (downstream) to Skidway Lake
The bottom is hard with lots of smaller rocks and gravel. You'll have no problems landing a canoe here.
The portage is mostly level with a few rocks and tree roots along the pathway. What is also of note is that there are no muddy areas.
The portage ends at this pretty little bay on the western end of Skidway Lake. The landing here has a fairly firm bottom. There are some submerged rocks here, but they are flat, so its easy to stand on them. This bay is very attractive when all the lily pads are in bloom.
