Portaging Direction: From Sawbill Lake to Ada Creek
The start of the portage is rocky, but there are good places to land canoe and the water isn't deep (May 26, 2016).
As good a place as any to leave your canoe while you make the first carry to Ada Creek (May 26, 2016).
Well traveled portage. Over 80 rods the trail gains about 25 feet of elevation until it reaches Ada Creek (July 1, 2023).

This is a wide section of Ada Creek. After your starting paddling along the creek, you need to pass beneath that cliff in the far distance in the center of your view. The creek eventually narrows again as you travel north. Where the creek narrows again, you'll find the portage to Ada Lake on the right (July 1, 2023).

Easy landing to start the portage (July 1, 2023).
Fine landing on this end of the portage. Plenty of spots to place gear and a shallow water takeout (May 26, 2016).
Moderate length portage that descends slightly along its length. Portage ends at the north end of the east bay of Sawbill Lake (July 1, 2023).

Time for some bigger water. It's been small lakes and creeks all the way from Cherokee Lake. The landing here is boulder strewn, but the water is relatively shallow and there is a fair amount of space to place gear. View is toward the south. The most distance shoreline visible is a little over a mile away (May 26, 2016).
