BWCA Portage: Malberg Lake to Koma Lake

A look out over Malberg Lake at the start of the portage to Koma Lake. The Kawishiwi River flows into Malberg Lake quite strongly just to your left.

Portaging from Malberg Lake to Koma Lake. The portage is an easy 24 rods with nice scenery to take your mind off your load. You can hear the Kawishiwi River to your right as it flows over some fairly impressive rapids.

View of Kawishiwi River above the rapids with the entrance to Koma Lake in the far distance. There are good places to land your canoe on both ends of this portage.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: KOMA LAKE

Portage from Koma Lake into: Kawishiwi River (section between Koma Lake and Lake Polly). You could also bushwhack back into Fantail Lake.
