Portaging Direction: From the Little Indian Sioux River to Upper Pauness Lake
View of the landing at the start of the portage to Upper Pauness Lake. No issues here.
This portage is a tough little bugger. You'll head up a small hill that has rather poor footing due to many rocks. Then you head down the hill and arrive at the lake.
The landing on this end has sizeable boulders to weave through along the shoreline. If you stand in the water, it is mostly a gravel bottom and offers good footing. BWCA Campsite 40 is right across the channel from here (landing is just right of center) at the head of the rapids flowing out of Upper Pauness Lake.
