Portaging Direction: From Lake One to Lake Two
Portage landing on Lake One where the portage to Lake Two begins. The rapids flowing between Lake Two and Lake One enter the lake to your left as you come up to this landing (July 3, 2015).
Similar to the above image, but from a slightly different angle (April 29, 2021).
Arrival at the unnamed pond that lies between the two portages. Yes, this means you have to load and unload your gear twice to get between these two lakes. Doesn't seem fair does it (April 29, 2021)?
Portaging from Lake One to Lake Two. You must pass over two short portages with a pond in between them. These portages can be busy, but you don't meet anyone else on the trail today (April 29, 2021).
Older footage of the portage (July 3, 2015).
Once you paddle across the pond, you come to this portage landing (April 29, 2021).
Lake Two, looking toward the left from the portage. The Kawishiwi River flows out of the lake just to your left over a series of rapids (you can see the current eddies between the rocks here) (July 3, 2015).
Roughly the same image as the one shown above (April 29, 2021).

Portaging Direction: From Lake Two to Lake One
Start of the portage. Nice rock shelf here. Put your canoe in to the right side of it as you face the lake. The rapids (visible in the background) begin on the left side of this rock ledge as you face Lake Two (April 29, 2021).
Low water conditions makes this area look drastically different (August 7, 2021).
The entire portage from Lake Two to Lake One actually encompasses two short portages and a quick paddle across a pond that separates them. Expect to encounter a lot of people on these portages unless you are here in the offseason or traveling at odd hours. The portages are well worn and easy to walk. Some nice views of the rapids can be had from several spots along the route (April 29, 2021).
Older video of this portage (July 3, 2015).
You can just make out the start of the second portage across the pond, a bit right of the center of your view (April 29, 2021).
You pull up to this portage landing after you make it across the pond (April 29, 2021).
Lake One canoe landing. A pretty good landing, just a tad rocky (April 29, 2021).
Similar view as above. The odd light and strange appearance of the sun is a result of smoke particles scattering light in the atmosphere. The smoke is from the huge forest fires that were burning out in the western United States at this time (July 3, 2015).
