Portaging Direction: From French Lake to Seahorse Lake
Portage landing here on the French Lake side of the portage is made up of small rocks. Water is shallow. Kind of a small landing area.
From French Lake to Seahorse Lake is uphill all the way. The portage is easy to walk, but grassy and a little overgrown. This is not a heavily traveled route through the BWCA, so portages here get less use.
The put in on the Seahorse Lake side is into shallow water. There is a very small ledge here, so you may have to put most of your canoe in the water before you load it up.

Portaging Direction: From Seahorse Lake to French Lake
Canoe landing is in a small bay in shallow water. The lake is rather marshy, but the bottom at the landing is hard and made up primarily of small rocks.
An easy 25 rods downhill the whole distance. The portage track is slightly overgrown due to limited use. This is part of the BWCA is traveled infrequently.
The French Lake end of the portage. Your view is toward the right (west).
