The Portage between BWCA Entry Point 45 and Morgan Lake
Portaging Direction: From BWCA Entry Point 45 to Morgan Lake
Start of the long portage.
This is a fairly long portage of just over one mile in length. There are a few modest hills to lug your gear over. An easy creek crossing. Several relatively small mud pits. View of a pond along the way. It's mostly the distance that makes this portage a bit of a workout.
There is a nice overlook of this pond along this portage. Good place to take a breather. You will cross a small creek that flows out of this pond not long after passing this location.
Landing on this end is soft sand, with clear shallow water.
Now that you've made it over the portage, visit:MORGAN LAKE
Portaging Direction: From Morgan Lake to BWCA Entry Point 45
Buttery smooth landing on Morgan Lake.
This is a long one. A few small climbs and decents. There is one creek crossing, but should be minor obstacle unless there has been a ton of rain. Maybe three or four squishy spots to sink into along the trail. The bigger squishy spots have boardwalks over them.
The portage ends at the three car parking lot and the road (aka the Lima Grade - Forest Road 315).
