Portaging Direction: From BWCA Entry Point 22 to Mudro Creek
Nearly flat portage from the parking lot to the creek. During low water levels, this portage becomes much longer and a bit more difficult.
Taking the portage from the parking lot to Mudro Creek. The first half of the portage is on a maintained gravel trail. If the water levels are normal or high, the portage ends at a sandy landing. However, because the water was low at time of this visit, the portage extends another 20 or 30 rods out through the marsh grass. Eventually the trail reaches a point along the creek that is deep enough to float a loaded canoe.
Looking downstream from the very muddy portage landing. From here you would paddle to the left.
Now that you've made it over the portage, visit:MUDRO CREEK
Portaging Direction: From Mudro Creek to BWCA Entry Point 22
Thick mud at the portage landing. The trail to the parking lot meanders through the grass until meeting up with the maintained part of the portage.
Following the portage from Mudro Creek to BWCA Entry Point 22 parking area. The first half of the portage is through a bog full of marsh grass. The footing is generally good and the ground isn't too soft. Because the water is low, the portage extends another 20 or 30 rods out into this marsh. The last half of the portage carry is on a maintained gravel trail.
