Portaging Direction: From BWCA Entry Point 14 parking lot to the Little Indian Sioux River
Start of the 40 rod portage downhill to the Little Indian Sioux River.
It's all downhill from the parking lot. Some stretches of the trail cross over bare rock. The portage ends with some steps right before the river.
The boulder field for a landing on the Little Indian Sioux River. Another portage also uses this landing. That portage (leading to your right and out of view) goes to the BWCA Entry Point 9 canoe landing (if you were going to head south from here). It's a 160 rod portage. You cannot legally go that way if you hold a permit for BWCA Entry Point 14.
Portaging Direction: From the Little Indian Sioux River to BWCA Entry Point 14 parking lot
A rather rough landing spot. The water is shallow, so you will be able to stand in it. Do not take the portage to the left from here if you are looking for the BWCA Entry Point 14 parking lot. You want to go straight ahead and up the hill. The portage to the left leads to the parking lot for BWCA Entry Point 9 (or back to the Little Indian Sioux River above the rapids, if you are heading south of the Echo Trail).
The portage is about 40 rods and its uphill over most of its course. It starts with some stairs. Some of the trail crosses bare rock. Overall the trail has good footing, but the sections that cross the table rock could be slippery if it's raining.
Large parking lot complete with a restroom. This is a relatively popular entry point.
