BWCA Bushwhack: Delta Lake to Bridge Lake
Note: Do not have this portage recorded in this direction. However, you can visit this page to see the portage from Bridge Lake to Delta Lake.
This portage starts as a bushwhack from Delta Lake, downhill to Drumstick Creek. This is 35 rods long, and since this portage only recently stopped being maintained by the U.S. Forest Service, it is still in relatively good shape as of last visit. Starting just below the rapids where the bushwhack/portage ends, paddle for about a mile downstream along Drumstick Creek until you reach Bridge Lake. The place where you put your canoe at the end of the portage can be fairly tricky, particularly if the water is high. The water is deep and the current is strong and the water is very dark so it is hard to steady the canoe. Extra tricky if you are doing this solo. The paddle down Drumstick Creek will be hampered by various amounts of lily pads depending on what time of the year it is.
Now that you've made it over the bushwhack, visit: BRIDGE LAKE
