The Portage between Clove Lake and Larch Lake
Portaging Direction: From Larch Lake to Clove Lake
Sand beach strewn with boulders. Lake bottom is solid and made of sand.
The portage is easy and well traveled. Nothing remarkable. Larch Creek is visible to your right as you follow the trail. Note that this portage doesn't get you all the way to Clove Lake. It actually deposits you in the final stretch of Larch Creek. From the end of this portage you still have to paddle a few hundred yards to Clove Lake. Even during low water, the creek is easily passable the rest of the way to Clove Lake.
Good landing on the Clove Lake end of this portage.

Portaging Direction: From Clove Lake to Larch Lake
Good put in/take out spot on the Clove Lake end of this portage.
From Clove Lake, you have to paddle a short stretch of Larch Creek to reach the start of the portage to Larch Lake. The portage has almost no elevation change. The trail follows Larch Creek which will be on your left. The boat landing on Larch Lake is very acceptable.
Fairly good landing here at Larch Lake.
