Portaging Direction: From Chub River to Flying Lake
Hard to see, but the landing is just slightly right of the center of your view. Fairly firm bottom. Landing is brushy and a little muddy. Bugs were ruthless in this shady area.
The portage starts out flat and a little overgrown for about 5 rods. It then enters a sodden, rocky, deadfall strewn spot that thankfully only last about 5 more rods. Last five rods are up a muddy hill to a marshy backwater area of Flying Lake.
Expansive view of the marsh on the north end of Flying Lake. Easiest put in spot is at the left end of the flat table rock (just left of center). Water gets deep quick.

Portaging Direction: From Flying Lake to Chub River
Use the rock ramp just right of the center of your view, at your feet. Water is pretty deep here.
Head down the mucky hill to start the portage. Careful footing required here as you have to step down on some boulder ledges. You then traverse a mud hole with lots of boulders, a few logs and plenty of goop. Past that, the final five rods are easy and flat.
The canoe landing is surprisingly good on the Chub River end. Only tough thing here was the skeeeeeeters.
