Portaging Direction: From Cherokee Lake to Town Lake
Start of the 10 rod portage from Cherokee Lake that heads toward Town Lake. There is not a lot of space here for unloading. The water is knee deep. From here it is about 5 rods to a pond.
After about 5 rods or so, you come to this pond. Pile all your gear back into your canoe and paddle to the far side, landing to the left of the small creek that trickles in from Town Lake.
The short paddle across the pond from the Cherokee Lake side of the pond to the Town Lake side. (Note: At one time the portage extended all the way between these two lakes, running along the north side of this pond.)
Little creek flowing in from Town Lake. There were fish visible in the clear water.
Looking back toward the west across the scenic pond from the Town Lake portage.
First view of Town Lake, looking toward the east.
