Portaging Direction: From Cattyman Lake to Gibson Lake
The landing here is good, albeit a tad rocky. The portage begins near the start of the channel/creek between the two lakes on the right as you approach it.
A short time after entering the woods, the portage comes to a "V". If you go to the left, you will soon come to Cattyman Falls. The falls are not that spectacular during low water conditions, but if you come here in the spring the falls will be really roaring. As can be expected when portaging around a waterfall, there is some elevation change. This portage loses about 40 feet from Cattyman Lake to Gibson Lake. The landings on both ends are pretty decent.
A rock strewn portage landing, but not difficult.

Portaging Direction: From Gibson Lake to Cattyman Lake
The portage comes to a "V" at some point after you pass the halfway point. If you go to the right, you will soon come to Cattyman Falls, which is definitely worth a look. The portage is modestly uphill heading toward Cattyman Lake, gaining about 40 feet of elevation.
