The Portage between Meeds Lake and Caribou Lake
Portaging Direction: From Caribou Lake to Meeds Lake
It's like a group of giants piled a bunch of huge boulders here just to make your life miserable.
Hopscotch from boulder to boulder to avoid the mud in between them until you reach the shore of the creek.
The only thing nice about this portage/paddle/portage between Caribou Lake and Meeds Lake is the paddle along the creek. The Caribou Lake to unnamed creek section of portage is particularly bad. It has terrible boulder filled landings on both ends and huge rocks most of the way down the portage trail. The creek offers a short respite before you are faced with another rather rocky portage. On the portage between the unnamed creek and Meeds Lake, an old logging road intersects it about midway. It is easily visible.
A pile of rocks for a landing greets you at the end of the creek. The actual creek flows in right in front of the bow of the canoe through those cattails.
The landing is rocky and water deepens quickly here. Not a pleasant landing.

A good look at the take out on Meeds Lake. Not a fun landing.
Another boulder pile at this end of the portage. The creek flows in right here through the reeds on your left.
MISSING THE PORTAGE VIDEO GOING IN THIS DIRECTION.
After paddling down the creek, the start of the portage from the creek to Caribou Lake looks like this.
Alas another boulder obstacle course on the Caribou Lake end of this portage.
