Note: This campsite is incorrectly placed on a lot of maps. The campsite is located just south of the location along the eastern shoreline of Ella Lake where the shoreline abruptly turns to the east. So it is much farther south and west then many maps depict. The other campsite on this lake (BWCA Campsite 835) is also often placed in the wrong position. It is really located where this campsite it typically shown on maps. That campsite is not located further up the lake by the group of islands. It is nearly directly east of the Grace Lake portage. This is a quiet lake. Most paddling groups take the long 285 rod portage from Beth Lake to Grace Lake rather then the two-portage route through Ella Lake. This is a pleasant campsite. Good canoe landing (multiple easy take out locations). The fire grate is close to the water and provides fabulous views of the lake. There are three tent pads. One is good, the other two so-so. Easy to walk along the shoreline.
Good landing next to shallow water and a relatively flat, grass-covered rock slab.
Oddly the fire grate seating area is oriented with your back to the lake.
Another view of the backwards kitchen orientation.
Small tent pad.
This particular tent pad has a fine selection of roots.
