The campsite is located right at the south end of the portage to South Cone Lake, right where the river flows in. There is a brushy trail that connects the campsite to the portage. Expect a lot of canoe traffic to go by if you're camped here. The seating area around the fire grate isn't too bad. The kitchen is set back in the forest a little bit, so limited lake views. There are three tent pads, all rather small, but serviceable. The canoe landing is also quite decent. The shoreline is mostly brushy, so hard to walk along the lakeshore.
The landing is at least average, maybe even a little better than average.
Nice open area around the fire grate. Well shaded and protected from the wind. Limited views of the lake.
View towards the lake from the seating area.
Kitchen seen from another angle.
Small grassy tent pad. Probably doesn't get a lot of use.
Maybe the best tent pad of the lot at this campsite.
Another smallish tent pad.
The WC.
This view is towards the southwest. BWCA Campsite 949 is located on that point, just right of center in the photo.
