This campsite has only two notable tent pads and only one is much good. The best part of the site is the fire grate area. Has a nice view of the lake, but is also well protected. There are two canoe landings at this site, both are mediocre due to lots of boulders and because they both landings have ledges a couple feet above the lake surface which you'll have to lift your stuff up onto. This campsite could be a tad buggy if there isn't a breeze to help you out. Campsites on the north end of Alton Lake are much less visited than those near mid-lake and further south.
The canoe landing is a ledge, so you must lift your boat and gear up onto it. Water is clear and shallow if you need to stand in it.
This campsite has a second landing. About as accessible as the other one.
Fire grate is parked next to a large boulder.
Another view of the kitchen.
Fire pit looking in direction of lake.
Limited tent pad locations at this campsite. This is the best one. It is just a few steps up the hill from the fire grate tucked into a ring of brush.
The other tent pad for those who want to be close with the trees (aka like roots).
