The campsite is located upon a hill in the middle of a peninsula in the southwest corner of the lake. This is a quieter part of the lake. The canoe landing is average by BWCA standards. The fire grate is located up a hill from the lake. Even though the campsite is situated on a peninsula, there are limited lake views from the kitchen since it is so far from the lake. There are three tent pads and all of them seemed reasonably comfortable. Was fairly buggy here. The south end of Alton Lake is the prettiest part of the lake. Only modest shoreline access. Latrine trail is a bit longer than usual.
Canoe landing isn't too bad.
The kitchen is located up a hill from the lake.
Another view of the fire grate and seating area.
Pine needle covered tent pad.
Another tent pad.
It's a bit of a hike to get to the latrine, so don't wait too long.
A third tent pad. All of the tent pads at this campsite seemed cozy enough.
Looking northeast from the campsite toward the string of islands in the south end of Alton Lake. For a sense of distance, those islands are about 900 feet away.
This is peering to the east/northeast. That is the long point sticking out from the south end of the lake.
