There are a couple other options for landings at this campsite besides this one, but they are all equally poor.

The kitchen is pretty close to the water. Has some nice seating, but there is no shade here.
This campsite was impacted by the 2007 Ham Lake fire. Therefore, there is little tree cover and less shade. There are two tent pads; one is overgrown and the other is made of gravel and flat, but you may have to scrape away the moose pellets since the moose seem to have taken a liking to it. The campsite has pleasant views and is located on a small point in the back of a bay along the south shore of Rush Lake.
From the fire pit, you get a 270 degree view of the water. Looking straight north from the fire pit, you can see the opening to the main lake just right of center. In the far distance through that opening, you can see the point on which BWCA Campsite 613 is situated. If you are camped here, it is likely that you found 613 occupied, since it is the best campsite on Rush Lake.

This seems to be the less used of the two tent pads.
You won't find any shade at the pooper either.
