Note: This campsite is incorrectly placed on a lot of maps. The campsite is actually located where BWCA Campsite 834 is typically shown on maps. That location is almost straight east of the Grace Lake portage. BWCA Campsite 834 is further south down the lake. BWCA Campsite 834 GPS Coordinates: 47.866857, -90.946824. BWCA Campsite 835 Coordinates: 47.867676, -90.94421
The majority of visiters to this area take the long 285 rod portage from Beth Lake to Grace Lake rather then the two-portage route up into Ella Lake. Thus Ella Lake receives relatively view visitors. This is a rather rough campsite. The campsite further south would probably be considered more suitable to most. The kitchen was in need of some remodeling during the last visit here. There is but a single obvious tent pad, although there is some open space next to the fire grate that could serve. Also, just north down the shoreline, right on the edge of the lake is another flat spot. There is good shoreline access.
Many good landing areas at this campsite. This is just one example.
The kitchen has seen better days. This campsite doesn't look like it gets a lot of visitors.
Log seating is very low to the ground. Suitable for hobbits.
This is the only really obvious tent pad. There is some flat space next to the fire grate too. Also there is a flat area right next to the water about 75 feet north of the fire grate.
The green pot gets so little use that pine needles are piling up on its lid.
View towards the north of a calm and mistly Ella Lake.
