Portaging Direction: From Karl Lake to Long Island Lake

Long Island Lake to Karl Lake Portage 1
There are some boulders here along the waterline, but the lake bottom is hard sand which makes this landing a simple matter.

This portage is about as undemanding as you're likely to come across. Relatively flat with nice put in spots at both ends. A well worn path.

Long Island Lake to Karl Lake Portage 2
This portage landing is a beach.

Long Island Lake to Karl Lake Portage 3
A good look at the large northwest bay of Long Island Lake. There is a campsite just to the right of your view, down the shoreline. The island in the middle of the bay is dead center in the distance.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: LONG ISLAND LAKE

BWCA portage landings don't get much wimpier than this one.

Enjoy a short stroll through the woods with a canoe over your head.

Long Island Lake to Karl Lake Portage 5
The landing at the Karl Lake end isn't as perfect as the Long Island Lake side, but it is a fantastic put in spot nonetheless.

Now that you've made it over the portage, visit: KARL LAKE
