Portaging Direction: From Bridge Lake to Rifle Lake

Bridge Lake to Rifle Lake Portage 1
On Bridge Lake, you pull up your canoe to a reasonably descent landing place on the right side of this table rock.

This portage is a little rougher than most. The trail is about 160 long and is overgrown with lots of brush. A large tree, with branches that like to grab every strap and piece of loose gear, has fallen across the trail. An open area along the route, overlooking a ravine offers a nice respite, particularly if you come this way after the leaves are off the trees.

Rifle Lake from the Bridge Lake portage. The portage is back in this short arm of the lake and is easily recognizable by this smooth rock surface.

Bridge Lake to Rifle Lake Portage 2
The ledge of rock marking the beginning of the portage out to Bridge Lake. Easy landing here, but a fairly tough portage. It often has deadfall across it and can be overgrown in places.

Note: This is not the entire portage. This is roughly just the last 1/3rd of the portage. Rest of video was damaged. This is part of a fairly long portage from Rifle Lake to Bridge Lake. In this part, you find the going a bit rougher than it was in the first portion back near Rifle Lake. As you travel along, the trail narrows. Several trees may lie fallen across the trail in this section. [View this portage in the other direction if you wish to see in its entirety.]

View of Bridge Lake from the Rifle Lake portage. The entrance to Drumstick Creek (which leads to Delta Lake) is left of center in the far distance. This is what it looks like in July.
